I graduated from La Salle University and started my career in a small public accounting firm. I left the public accountant world to start a career in commercial real estate. I started as a senior accountant, where I prepared quarterly and year-end financial statements and annual audit reports while performing all general ledger and cash flow analysis.
Eventually, after graduating with my M.B.A., I became an asset manager. As an asset manager, I developed and implemented an asset-specific strategic plan for a portfolio of commercial real estate assets. I forecasted and managed all financial aspects of each property, including debt and equity balances, property operating budgets, variance reports, capital expenditures, capital needs, and distributable cash flow. I prepared monthly and quarterly reporting relative to asset performance and negotiated potential lease terms of new/renewal tenants. I also evaluated asset disposition opportunities and assisted with the disposition process.
I am currently working as a Fund Controller for a large REIT, where I manage all the accounting for the industrial assets in the Fund, which include over 1,400 properties and over 4 billion in revenue.
