Southampton is in Upper Southampton Township in Bucks County. It shares its name with the English town from which William Penn’s followers embarked on their journey to America. It was recognized as a township in 1685. However, it later split into Upper and Lower Southampton in 1929. Over time, the area grew thanks to the railroad, farming, and other industries. 

The Vibe 

The overall vibe of Southampton is a blend of suburban and rural life, where residents enjoy a small-town feel and lots of nature. However, it’s only roughly 25 miles from Philadelphia, making it a great spot to enjoy the hustle and bustle of the big city when you want to.

You don’t need to worry about working up an appetite when you explore Southampton. You’ll find plenty of places to satisfy your cravings with delicious dishes and tantalizing treats.

The Iron Oven — Local Southampton resident Alex Nalbandian opened the Iron Oven in 2018, building on the skills and knowledge he gained from his father’s pizza restaurant, Rising Sun Pizza. The Iron Oven specializes in creating made-from-scratch Italian cuisine and an inviting atmosphere that pulls you in with its warmth. Enjoy a refreshing cocktail, glass of wine, or beer with your meal. 

Steam Pub — For a fun and funky place to eat, why not go to a restaurant in a converted train station? The unique ambiance of this pub-style eatery is the perfect backdrop to the creative cocktails, live music, and delicious menu.

Luxury Bazaar — This shop specializes in luxury watches (i.e. Rolex) and will also buy pieces. You can also find a selection of rare watches, and learn more about watches from the knowledgeable staff.

Southampton Train Station — The Southampton Railroad Station Society strives to restore this railroad station that was last used for passenger service in 1983. The Southampton Station is one of only three station buildings left on the Newtown branch.

There are two pavilions – one with a cozy fireplace. You’ll also find a farmhouse, an amphitheater, a disc golf course, and a carriage house on the grounds. Participate in daily activities, like a nature walk or yoga. Or kick back in the grass or at one of the picnic tables for a picnic or play some softball or tennis. 

Conestoga Rod and Gun Club —  After undergoing extensive renovations in 2020, the Conestoga Rod and Gun Club has lots to offer. There are 11 shooting lanes and the club hosts a variety of events throughout the year, including Defense matches, Schuetzen Single Shot, action matches, and more. The range is indoors, which means you don’t need to worry about the weather messing up your plans. There’s also a lounge available for relaxing and catching up with friends when you’re taking a break from the range.
